Hartford Elementary students learned about fire safety yesterday with a visit from the Hartford Area Fire and Rescue team!
Firefighters and EMTs met with our Early Childhood, Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Third Grade students to talk about fire safety and what to do in case of a fire. First Grade students got to head outside to explore the fire trucks up close and learn about the different tools firefighters and EMTs use on the job.
The Smoke House was once again a highlight for our Second Graders! Students practiced what to do if there’s a fire at home — getting low to avoid smoke, checking doors for heat, and safely escaping through a window.
One area that was challenged across all grade levels was learning their home address, their parents’ phone numbers, and identifying a safe family meeting spot in case of a fire. We encourage families to talk about these important details at home and see if your child has met the challenge!
A huge thank-you to the Hartford Area Fire and Rescue team for spending the day teaching our students such important safety lessons!
