West Central School District Announces Hiring of Humboldt Elementary Principal
The West Central School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Mrs. Amy Larson as the next principal of Humboldt Elementary School. Mrs. Larson will begin her new role for the upcoming school year, bringing with her a strong background in instructional leadership, student support, and relationship-building with families and staff.
Mrs. Larson has most recently served the district as the Student Success Coordinator for the past two years, where she has worked closely with students, staff, and families to support academic achievement and student well-being. Prior to her time in district leadership, she spent 12 years as a mathematics educator, developing a strong foundation in curriculum, instruction, and student engagement.
In addition to her teaching and district leadership experience, Mrs. Larson previously served in a leadership role with the Chester Area School District as the Director of Online Learning, where she helped expand learning opportunities and supported innovative instructional practices.
Mrs. Larson earned both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of South Dakota. Through her graduate work, she obtained her PreK–12 administrative certification, preparing her to serve as a building leader focused on student success and school improvement.
Superintendent Dr. Knight expressed enthusiasm about the selection.
"We are excited for Mrs. Larson to join our administrative team," said Dr. Knight. "Her ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families sets her apart. She understands the importance of creating a positive school culture while maintaining a strong focus on academic growth. We are confident her leadership will help keep Humboldt Elementary moving in the right direction."
Mrs. Larson shared her excitement about the opportunity to serve the Humboldt Elementary community and continue supporting the district’s mission of providing high-quality educational opportunities for all students.
The district looks forward to the leadership Mrs. Larson will provide and the positive impact she will have on students, staff, and the Humboldt community.
