Parents,

The spring season is just around the corner for MS/HS activities at West Central. If you haven't already registered your child on Bound, please do so at your earliest convenience. If your child has previously participated in an activity, you should only need to register them in the spring activity. If this is their first activity of the year, you will need to go through the whole registration process. If they are playing a sport, please make sure they have a current physical form (both pages) uploaded on the Bound website. I have attached the registration directions, if needed. SUMMER 2026 SANFORD SPORTS PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

WHO: Current West Central Middle School Athletes (entering grades 6-8)

WHAT: Comprehensive sports performance package that includes
programming designed for each athletes’ specific sport demands (strength,
speed, agility and conditioning)

WHEN: June 1
st – July 28th, 2026 (No sessions July 1-7 due to moratorium)
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
• Group 1: 9:00am – 10:00am (Middle School Group#1)
• Group 2: 10:00am – 11:00am (Middle School Group #2)

WHERE: Training sessions to take place at West Central High School. Meet in Becker Center Gym

COST: $200/athlete (price includes tax)
No make-up or pro-rated amounts
10% discount for families with 2+ registered participants
Minimum group size of 15 / Maximum group size of 25

18 of our West Central Choir students spent the day, Thursday, February 12th, at SDSU's Festival of Song with a collaborative concert to end the evening at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. They were proud to represent West Central and join 18 other schools from across the state!

The coaching staff at West Central High School is launching a new strength and conditioning program for high school athletes. Attached is a flyer with important information about the program. A special congratulations to Humboldt Elementary's January Students of Character. These students received the most Trojan Tributes during the month of January for being responsible, respectful, and safe in school. West Central High School's school counselor, Amy Lupkes, was honored in Washington, D.C. for being the South Dakota school counselor of the year. She joined colleagues from the other 49 states at an event last week.

In 9th grade World Geography, students are learning about food cultures, starting right here at home with some South Dakota traditions. Thank you to Creekside Meats and Mrs. Payne for providing South Dakota-made kuchen for Foodie Friday in 9th grade World Geography!

The fashion design and interior design class toured the Old Courthouse Museum, 8th & Railroad, and the Pettigrew Museum today. They had a great time seeing the historical part of downtown Sioux Falls, the styles of a Queen Anne home, and the artifacts. There was even a photo of the Trojan Marching Band from 1996 at the Old Courthouse Museum!

Sales open tomorrow!

Congratulations to WC One-Act for placing second at Regions. Several students also won Outstanding Actor Awards: Camden Bjergaard, BreAnn Heider, Darin Wendt, Liam Murphy, Sydney Skari, Avaya Carlson, Ana Underwood, Mason Kennedy, and Kinley Skots.

The One-Act will perform at the State Festival at Brandon Valley HS at 11am on Friday, February 6th.

Congratulations to Whitney Pagler (Flute), Mason Kennedy (Percussion), and Catie Danielson (Clarinet) for making the 2026 SD All-State Band!  Whitney is a 4-year All-State Band member!
